Dr. Sohail Inayatullah is a political scientist and futurist with decades of experience advancing futures thinking across academia, policy, and practice. As a Professor at Tamkang University in Taipei, he has taught and mentored generations of students and practitioners, contributing to the global spread of futures literacy.

He is internationally renowned as the creator of Causal Layered Analysis (CLA) — one of the most influential methods in futures studies — which enables individuals and organizations to explore the deeper cultural, systemic, and narrative layers shaping change. His work challenges short-term thinking and encourages critical reflection on power, worldviews, and long-term transformation.

Dr. Inayatullah has collaborated with governments, international organizations, universities, and civil society groups worldwide, supporting strategic foresight, policy development, and organizational transformation. His facilitation style combines intellectual rigor with imagination, enabling participants to move beyond conventional solutions toward innovative and meaningful futures.

A prolific author and speaker, Dr. Inayatullah has published extensively on futures studies, social change, governance, and alternative futures.
